Barbie at 50

I found this "artist's rendition" of what Barbie would like if she had aged normally. It is Barbie at 50. It was in the AARP Bulletin / March 2009.

http://bulletin.aarp.org/publish/etc/medialib/aarp_media_library/bulletin/print_issues/march_2009_print.Par.15722.File.dat/Users/dvansant/Desktop/March09.pdf

The image is way down at the bottom, on page 35, I think it is. What do you think of natural Barbie?

Little Hat Pins

Here are more of my little hats....just waiting to be finished. Some will be pins to wear. The others will go on the top of golf tees for pincushions/needleholders.

National Quilting Day

Today is National Quilting Day. I hope that is the correct title of it. I plan to make some yo yo's. I don't know if I will do any additional sewing/quilting.

Here is a photo of some of the little hat pins I am making. Yes, with the yo yo's - one stuffed with polyfil, one flat, and ribbon trim.

Whew!

Here is the stack of 80 little mattresses and quilts for the grandtwins. I bought a packed of pea seeds and enclosed one of the litte peas in plastic and fabric. That is the white square in the bottom photo with the book. I ran out of time...so no clothing for the Barbies. I am sending a note to see if the girls would like clothing for their Barbies. I understand they really don't play with the Barbies right now.
The blue stack of quilts is for Taylor. The pink stack of quilts is for Piper.
This afternoon I went to Jubilee House for the sewing class I am teaching there. There are currently six women in residence. One is new this week. Three of the women have finished making their bags/totes. At the present time we have only one very poorly running sewing machine. It really needs to be serviced. Anyway, the women have to take turns using the sewing machine. Today they started doing some redwork so they have something to do while they wait. I enjoyed my time at Jubilee House. I feel good about helping them.

Vintage Sent Blocks

Yesterday I went to the Post Office. Wow! I had a squishy full of blocks (25) from Vintage. She had collected them from her friends. Nine of the blocks are already sewn into a top. Thank you, Vinny. Great job!
So.... I have 127 blocks to send to Lainie an Arniepat for the fire quilts.
I want to thank everyone who helped with this projects. You know who you are. I think my list is over there --------------------> buried under some fabric. Imagine that!!!
Here is a photo of the quilt top. The blur in the lower right hand corner is my hand moving. I take most of my photos with my webcam.
Update on TT - Nisse is sending TT to NORWAY!!! How exciting!

Traveling Again

TT is on the way to Ohio. I imagine the envelop may be there by now. I'm sure Nisse will have fun with TT.

TTT left Lainie's home and has arrived at Oziecutsnake's home. I wonder where Ozie will take TTT. I guess it will be quite an adventure.

I am busy making yo yo's...yes, here in the middle of the night. Sigh.

It was a very stressful day at work. How can doing food samples be stressful? Management rules by threats and intimidation. It is very bad for my stress level - which at the moment feels like it is off the chart. I am very thankful to have a job. I wish it were more suitable for me.

Barbie on Mattresses

I have to find out if the twins have Barbies. Grandma (me) has a Barbie which I used as a model when I made Barbie clothing years ago. I think Barbies will work for "The Princess."

I guess I no longer have any Barbie clothing patterns. I might have to go to Joann's and buy another one. If there is time, I will make nightgowns for the Princess Barbies.

Forty Mattresses

The forty flannel mattresses are now finished - 20 for Taylor and 20 for Piper. The stack is about 7 1/2 inches high.

I have about 14 more little quilts to make. I think most of them will be pieced. I'm going to take a little break now.

More blocks for Australia

Nisse sent me some blocks to send to Australia. Here are photos of some of them.

Blocks for Australia

I am collecting 12 1/2 inch square blocks to send to Australia for quilts for fire victims. My online friends - Lainie and Arniepat in OZ - will put the quilts together. Most of the quilts will be for kids. I currently have about 50 blocks to send on March 17th. The blocks need to be in Australia the beginning of April.

Here are photos of some of the blocks I received from Dr. Beth.
