Pink Tomato for Needles

Have you ever seen a "needle cushion? Singer makes the one I bought. It has space for 6 different kinds of needles - Light Wt. Woven, Medium Wt. Woven, Heavy Wt. Woven, Denim/Leather, Ball Point Knit, and Ball Point Heavy Wt. Knit. Then down each section it has: 1-4 hours, 4-8 hours, 8-12 hours and purchase. It is for sewing machine needles. I think it is very clever. I bought the last one at Joann's some weeks ago. I will have to check to see if they have gotten more in.

Busy Day

Even though I did not sleep well last night, I was up earlier than usual and went to Curves. It is good to have that out of the way for the day. I stripped my bed, did two loads of laundry (the second one is spinning now) and made up my bed. It is clean and ready for me.
Also, I went to the post office. My federal refund check was in my mail box. Yeah!!! So I went to the bank to deposit the check and deal with a check order. I tried to order checks from Colorful Images, but they insisted there were too many numbers in my account number....even after they talked to the teller at the bank. So I canceled the order with CI and the bank will send me new checks for free - instead of the usual $40 - which was the reason I was trying to get them from CI.
And, I called my IRA people. Yes, I have a very, very tiny IRA. Then I printed out their Beneficiary Change form.
I prepared lunch at home - sauteed mushrooms with a veggie burger on a roll. Yummy. I am now ready for a nap.

Bleeped!

Dennis Miller said:
"I am not worried about Biden getting bleeped. I am worried about us (Americans) getting bleeped."

Quote of the Year on Obamacare

“It’s a good thing for those pushing the health care overhaul in Congress that the American people don’t get a vote.”

Words

Here are some phrases that make my hair stand on end:

"control the people"
"we have to pass the bill and then we will know what is in it"
"redistribute the weath"

There is another one that I can't recall at the moment.

Could someone....anyone...tell me, if the healthcare bill that just passed the House and was signed by President B.O., is so great why are President B. O. and his family, Congress, and certain staffers exempt from it? Why do they get a special deal? If this bill is good for the American people, should that not include all elected officials?

And...no, no, no, I do not want to pay for Pelosi's plastic surgeries.

Happy National Quilting Day

Today I finished both these mini quilts for the birthdays of my granddaughters - except for the labels. They will be six years old on March 31st. I am sending them these little quilts (about 15 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches) instead of cards. I hope they will like them.

Adding Trim

I decided to add a little trim to the bags. I am going to add more embellishing to the next ones.

More Mini Trash Bags for Cars

Today I made a few more mini trash bags for cars. See!!!

Mini Car Trash Bag

Here is my version of a car trash bag. I discovered a large size paper or styroform cup will fit in my bag for a liner. The instructions called for a plastic tub with a plastic bag held on by a rubber band. Also, I shortened the bag length from 15 or 16 inches to 9 or 10 inches. It is not necessary to completely line with fabric. I just used lining fabric about 5 inches down. So much easier and takes less fabric.

Car Trash Container

Today I made two car trash containers made out of fabric, a rubber bands, a recycled bread bag, and a plastic tub for each one. For one I repurposed a large yogurt plastic tub and for the other I used a 15 ounce margarine tub. Easy peasy. Hmmmmmmmmmm...I will need one for my car. I'm off to check my stash for just the right fabric!!!

Crafter's Comfort Gloves

I have been having trouble with my hands. So yesterday I went to Joann's and bought these green gloves - using a 50% off coupon. They are supposed to help with Arthritis, Hand Pain and Swelling and Cold Hands. There are really "green" - kind of a pea soup green. LOL

Birthday Project

My granddaughters will be six years old on March 31st. Instead of buying birthday cards, I decided to make them each a fabric card /mini quilt. Here is Piper's. It is not yet finished. I used blue fabric for Taylor's candles. The flames are actually little bug buttons.

Leaves

I have been thinking about leaves. I have been thinking about making some thing with leaves - fabric leaves. Weeping Willow tree leaves. Honestly, I don't know where this is going. However, today I got out some of the hand dyed fabric I have had for a few years. I use some double sided iron on Heat N Bond on the hand dyed fabric and then cut out leaves. I made a little pile of triangles with the scraps.

We had several Weeping Willow trees on the farm where I grew up. One of these big old trees was uprooted by Hurricane Hazel in 1954.

I have hand embroidered a vein down the center of some of the leaves. I wonder where I am going with this....

Doggy Treat Bags

One of my co-workers is a professional dog trainer. She asked me to make some doggy treat bags. Here they are. I don't use a pattern. None ove them are the same.

Yoga Mat Strap

My housemate, Marilyn, asked me to make a yoga mat strap. The fabric is denim. I used one of my Bernina "fancy" stitches - embroidered flowers in lavender thread.

Love Quilt Nov. 2002

I was in the quilt chat room - http://www.quiltchat.com/ - this evening. One of the quilters from Australia, arniepat, was in at the same time. We were talking about how long we have been visiting the chat room. She said she first came in around the time they made the love quilt for me after my mom died, 9/11/02. This is the footprint Arniepat made. Also, she wrote in yellow embroidery thread: God bless you and keep you safe. It does not show up in the photo. Sorry. It is a very special quilt, made by very special people.

Thanks again

Hanger Space Saver

My friend Dale sent me instructions to make a hanger space saver this morning. Here is my version. I did not follow the directions, but instead made my own with only 2 loops instead of 3, using denim instead of ribbon, and making a loop for over the hanger instead of a metal ring.

Three Drawstring Bags

This morning I made three little drawstring bags. It was a learning experience. The denim with batik fabric one does not show up well on the photo - too dark. Also, I would not use denim again. It is too heavy. I would suggest much lighter fabric. The cotton bags are a bit bulky. But I think they are cute. They would be great as a gift bag for a small present. The pattern I use showed the points tacked up. But... I NEVER follow directions exactly. LOL Later I will try to make a larger one, I think.

A Denim Day

I quilted denim fabric with a variety of thread colors. Then I took the denim and sewed these fabric buckets. They are fun and easy to sew.

I can always use containers for storage for odds and ends of things.

Fabric Bucket in Japanese Fabric

My friend, Keiko, from Japan gave me this fabric. I made this fabric bucket to send to her... or maybe I will keep it for me. LOL I snipped the fabric when I was cutting threads from the finished product. So I added the yoyo to cover up the little hole. The bucket is quilted.

Mistakes Happen

The first week of February I received an email notice telling me that I had an overdue library book. I remembered taking that book and another one and dropping them through the return slot at the library entrance. I went to the library and was told that I needed to wait until I received three past due notices, and then would be told what my options would be. Then I waited.

So today I went back to the library. And...in less than five minutes, I found the book on a shelf in the stacks and returned it to the front desk. Yeah! I'm a happy camper. I just knew that I had taken it back to the library.
