This afternoon I went to Barnes and Noble. While there I saw the July 2009 issue of British Patchwork & Quilting. I bought it because of one of the articles - Roses from the Heart - Bonnets - A Memorial to Women Deportees by Dianne Huck. It is about the 25,566 convict women who were sent to Australia between 1788 and 1853.
The project is asking for women to make "bonnets" to represent each of these convict women. See:
www.christinahenri.com.au.
I think I want to make a bonnet. I think I will email Christina and see how many bonnets they have now.
