Rosemary and I exchanged stockings this here.  Here is what I received from her.  We opened out packages today.

Christmas stocking 2012

This is the Christmas stocking I made to swap with Rosemary Mills in Canada this year.

Lettuce

Lettuce.  I planted seeds in March.  This is how my lettuce looks now.  I am going to harvest it....probably later today.

Grow babies grow

This year is zipping right along...way too fast. I am busy with my little balcony gardening project for a little over a month. I have seeds. Lots of seeds. It has been a very long time since I have planted anything. So...I am very excited to be doing it now.

Birthday #8

I am almost finished with the mini birthday quilts (to hang) for the twins. They will be 8 years old this month. I can't believe it. Where has time gone?

The house # 2012 is for the year. The #1 and #2 are for the birth order. Inside: "Happy Birthday" button and the # 8.

Happy Campers

I planted seeds last Wednesday evening. It looks like they are "happy campers." I saw the first cosmos sprouts on Sunday. Yesterday the thyme seeds sprouted.

The New Year - 2012

It is already the sixth day of 2012. I have not really given much thought to the new year. I was busy around Christmas time. I felt totally unprepared for Christmas of 2011. I had friends in for dinner on Christmas day - three Eritrean men and a Romanian couple. I cooked a nice boneless leg of lamb. There was enough food for a small army - with lots left over.

On New Year's Day, I made the German traditional meal - pork roast, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Cindy and my neighbor Kelly joined me for dinner. And, then we played Parcheesi.
