Snow Flake Stocking

This is the stocking I made this year for the QuiltChat swap. It went to Sharon/Purply in Texas.

Merry Christmas 2010

This is Sara with the doll, etc. that I gave her.

Merry Christmas

I am going to miss these two little dolls. I will be taking them to their new "mamas" this afternoon - Hannah and Sara, little Eritrean girls. I had soooooooooo much fun making the little quilts and bedding for them.

Bottle Bags

I made these bottle bags to take out to the airport gift shop tomorrow. They are made of red polar fleece. The owner requested some bags for wine bottles. I would like to sew up more, but I don't know if I will have time.

Now 28 neck warmers

My stack of fleece neck warmers has grown to 28. See!!! I think two of them might be too small except for a little kid.

14 Neck Warmers

I made these neck warmers in the last few days. They are made out of fleece. They will be nice and warm to wear.

Christmas Sewing

I have quite a bit of sewing I want to finsh before Christmas. Do you hear my sewing machine motor humming? I made eight neck warmers. I have more cut and waiting to be sewn - some to give as gifts and others to take to the airport gift shop. I would like to complete 25 or 30. I have more work to do the the dish towel tops. Instead of crocheting them, I use fabric and velcro. My hairdresser asked me to make 12 for her. I need to make some wine bags for the gift shop. Also, on my list are two little doll quilts. Oh...and some placemats. I better get going. Christmas will be here soon.

Dolls in Baskets

I found these cute little dolls at Target and the baskets at Joann's. I made little mattresses and flannel blankets for them. If I have time I will make small pieced quilts as well. Later. I am planning to give them to the two little Eritrean girls who attend my church here in Twin Falls.

Dish towels to hang

Do you hang up your dish towels? The gal that cuts my hair likes those crocheted top dish towels. She mentioned that she has had a hard time finding them. I made some with fabric tops instead of crocheted yarn. See!!!

Snow! Snow! And more snow!

It is snowing right now. I love watching the snow fall. I am so glad I am home today. I have plenty of domestic chores to keep me busy. My bedding is in the washer. Maybe I will make a nice pot of veggie soup.
Last night when I was getting things out of the trunk, the the door came down and hit me on the nose. Yes, ouch! It drew blood. Nothing seems to be broken. But...boy...did it hurt!
I don't know if I will go outside at all today. I might find time to do some sewing later.

Doll Aprons

The two doll aprons are now finished. I sewed the velcro on this afternoon. The aprons are reversible, but there is a pocket on only one side.

3 Hats

I made these three chef hats today. I really enjoyed working on them. I cut out fabric for aprons. I have not sewn those yet.

Gingerbread Cookies - Enjoy

I don't have my printer hooked up...so I had to write out the recipe. I can't find it online now. Sigh. Here is what I wrote:

2 1/4 Cups of flour

1/2 Cup of white granulated sugar

1/2 Cup of butter - at room temperature

1/2 Cup of Molassas - unsulphared - I used mild

1 egg

1 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix everything together in a bowl on slow speed of electric mixer. Chill in the refrigerator for an hour or more.

Preheat oven to 350 F. Roll dough to 1/8 inch. Cut with cookie cutter. Put on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for about 8 minutes.

I had trouble rolling out the dough. So I just made the dough into small balls and pressed them on to the cookie sheet.

Backpacks

Sewing again. Today I made two kid size backpacks. There was lots of frog stitching on the first one. The second one is a bit larger. I love the colorful fabric.

Dream

I slept on my new mattress for the first time last night. I bought it on Monday before I drove over to eastern Idaho to visit friends, but did not have a chance to sleep on it before I left.
I don't know what dreams mean - if anything. I did dream. It was a lovely dream. I don't remember all the details. But here is what I remember. It was mostly about Dale Anne Potter's house in Morse, SK, Canada - http://daleannepotter.com/ - her blog addy.
In the dream Dale's house had been painted different shades of light and medium green with some lavender. The colors reminded me of the "painted ladies" in San Francisco - Victorian colors. The inside had been renovated and opened up and there was green paint on the walls. It was lovely. Also, Dale had aquired a house next door. It was moved so that the backs of both houses faced each other. In between was a huge green lawn. The second house was turned into a retreat center. This part of the dream gets a bit strange or rather the rooms in the house were a bit unique. One of the rooms had four bunk beds - sleeping for eight people. It made me a little claustrophobic. I don't remember the other rooms exactly. Overall, everything was awesome. It was a very pleasant dream. The colors were fabulous.
What do you think, Dale?

Trick or Treat Bags

Today I made "trick or treat" bags for the twins. I used some "glow in the dark thread in the straps and bands which are quilted. I still need to tack down the band liing.

Another Bag

I couldn't sleep so I got up and finished another bag. The band and the strap are quilted and I used a printed fabric of onions. It was from the Kyle's Marketplace collection which I bought a few years ago. The rest of the bag is denim. The bag kind of looks like a flared skirt. Because it is narrower at the top, things won't fall out easily.

Got Veggies?

I was saving all this veggie fabric for placemats. However, tonight I decided to make this tote instead.

One Done, One More to Go

I just finished sewing the hem of the band of this chef's hat. I have one more to finish. They are for my grand daughters. I don't know if I will make chef's jackets for them or aprons, or maybe one of each.

Bag Lady

I have been making bags / totes today. All of them are lined. The smallest one is quilted, too. It was a fun day.

RV's, etc.

Whew! It is hot today - 98 here. I have been running around since 11AM - now 4:30PM. I went to a RV dealership this morning and saw some very nice small camper-trailers. Really, really nice. One was an especially good deal - a trade-in down from $25,000 to about $15,000. Too bad that is over my budget. It was big enough to live in. Also, I checked prices for parking spaces - $400 per month at KOA, $350 per month at Oregon Trail, and $275 at a not so nice place in town. Another location was $15 per night, without amenities.
I had lunch out at the airport restaurant - Happy Landings. The owner has some of my items in her gift shop. She paid me today. It was about 1 1/2 times what I make a day at the demo table and alot more fun. I took out more table runners, travel sized pillow cases and coffee cup cuffs. I brought home some items that did not sell - the little mice and tissue holders. I am going to make some bags to take out.
Oops....didn't get any lottery tickets. I will get them on my next trip around town.

Home Again

My laptop is home again. Yeah! I missed it.

Sick Computer

I am at the library. My computer picked up a virus and is back at the repair shop. I was hoping I would get it back this afternoon. But that didn't happen. I might have to go the whole weekend without a computer. Sigh. It will be ok. I'm working tomorrmow. And later I will see.

Six More Cuffs

I made six more cuffs today. Denim. Golf fabric. Horseshoe print. Japanese floral. African animal print - this one is to wear.

Will be Sewing

I worked today at my part-time job. I am not scheduled to work again until Saturday. I am looking forward to sewing this week.

Sew, Baby, Sew!

A friend has a retail store. Today she bought 18 of my coffee cuffs to sell in her shop. Yeah!!! I'm jazzed.

Niece's Quilt

Sometimes I start projects that I simply cannot seem to complete. Here is one of them - my niece's quilt. It has signatures from the guests at her wedding in 2004. Yesterday I finished all the crazy patch blocks. So I am one step closer to a finished quilt.

Adoption.

I am downsizing and might have to put Molly and her sister (aka Tyroam I and Tyroam II) up for adoption. I am not sure if I am willing to part with them, however. I need to give the idea more thought. And, there is Ginger, too - the doll I made a few years ago in the Gathering Place class in Rupert, Idaho.

Restless

I must admit to being a bit restless. I have no plans to go anywhere - no time, no money. It is not that long ago that I drove to Arizona and California in April - almost 3,000 miles. I would like to go camping for a couple of days, but I don't know anyone who would go with me. Sigh. I could go alone. I think it would be more fun with a friend or friends.

And...more cuffs...

Yes, I am still sewing coffee cuffs. I am doing more embellishing for the more or less artsy ones. The horse fabric cuff was a special order.

50 + 3

Here is a stack of 50 finished cup cuffs. I had three more, but they have gone to new homes already.

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Batik Cuff

Marilyn's daughter (Kathy) gave me this strip of 4 batik squares that were leftover from a quilt she made. I found it today while I was going through my stash. I just happened to have a small batik piece - the gray and white. It was just enough to make this cup cuff. I think this is my favorite cuff so far. LOL

Quilted Cuffs

I spent most of the day sewing. I made a bunch of crazy patch quilted cup cuffs. I now have twelved quilted ones finished. I have made a total of 42 cuffs - I think. I have given three away.
Also, I did some volunteer work for Jubilee House.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

32 Cuffs

I have finished 32 coffee cup cuffs. Today I made some crazy patch ones. They are so much fun to make.

More Cup Cuffs

I made more cup cuffs. Can you tell I am having fun making them? I am going to modify the pattern a bit and make more.
